Minor Account

CU SoCal offers UTMA accounts for children up to 12, and a minor account can be opened for children aged 13-17. In both cases, the account must be opened in person, and a parent or guardian must be present.

Items to bring to appointment

Photo ID

You will need a current state or government-issued photo ID (State ID, Driver’s License, U.S. Passport, U.S Resident Card). Minors may use the following as identification: State ID, Current Student ID, or Birth Certificate

Proof of Residence

If address is not current on government-issued ID or is not listed for Parent/Guardian, please provide one of the following: current lease or mortgage agreement, auto/home/renter’s insurance, DMV registration, or utility bill (internet, cable, gas, electric or water).

Social Security

You will need a Social Security number or ITIN documents for the minor/joints of the account.

Funds

To open an account, you will need an initial deposit of $10.00 or more.

Notes:

  • Your loan officer may require other documentation after the loan has been processed.
  • These three branches do not offer notary: El Monte, City of Industry, and Anaheim.
  • Notary services are free for CU SoCal Members. There is a $15 fee for Shared Branch Members.
