How to check status of direct deposit
Checking the status of your direct deposit is as easy as viewing your account online, calling your credit union or bank, or visiting a local branch. Using your bank's resources, you can see if the money has been deposited into your checking or savings account, or if there's a pending deposit.

What is direct deposit?
Direct deposit is a way to receive money owed to you by having the funds directly deposited into your checking or savings account. Direct deposit is one of the advantages of having a checking account. Funds that can be direct deposited into a bank account include payroll, Social Security benefits, child support, and tax refunds.
You can set up direct deposit with your employer or a government agency from which you receive payments. To do so requires providing your account number, bank routing number, Social Security number, and other personal information.
When you set up direct deposit of payments owed to you, you won’t receive a paper check for that payment because the funds are electronically deposited by the payer into the account(s) you specify. Direct deposit saves time because you won’t have to make a trip to your credit union or bank to deposit the funds.
How do I check my direct deposit status?
There are several good ways to check status of direct deposit, which include:
Online. If you've created an online account for desktop and mobile banking, simply login to your account and search for the direct deposit amount you're looking for.
Member services. Credit union Member services and bank customer service representatives can be reached by phone during their business hours and can provide you with information on your account. You will need to provide personal information, such as your account's personal identification number (PIN) to verify your identity. Many credit unions and banks have automated phone systems which you can use through voice or phone prompts to get your account balance and hear a list of recent deposits.
In-person. Traditional credit unions and banks offer in-person customer service. To check your direct deposit status simply visit a branch office and ask a representative to provide you with a list of recent deposits.
ATMs. Using your checking account debit card at an ATM, you may be able to get your account balance and a summary of recent transactions, including deposits. To avoid paying ATM fees, be sure to use an ATM that's in your banking network.
Is there a way to see pending direct deposits?
Using online or mobile banking, simply log into your account and view "recent activity" to check status of direct deposit. You may see the words "direct deposit" or ACH payment which indicates the money was deposited. You can also look at your account balance to see if your available balance is equal to your total balance. Available balance won't include pending deposits, but the total balance would.
How do I know if my direct deposit went through?
As we mentioned earlier in this article, there are several ways to check direct deposit status. If you use online and mobile banking, just log into your account and check your transactions. If there is a credit union or bank branch nearby you may stop in and ask a representative to check your account for you.
What time do pending deposits hit?
Direct deposit typically goes through before 9 a.m. on the day you're scheduled to be paid.
Why is my direct deposit late?
A direct deposit may be late if your payday happens to fall on the weekend or on one of the 11 federal holidays recognized by the United States Government.
How long does it take for direct deposit to show in your bank account?
If your direct deposit is a paycheck from your employer, the direct deposit time can depend on how your employer sets it up. Direct deposit of a tax refund depends on when the IRS processes and releases the money to your credit union or bank.
Can direct deposit hit later in the day?
Depending on the source of the payment and your financial institution, a direct deposit payment could hit your account as early as midnight of your scheduled payday. Several factors influence when direct deposits come through, including bank processing and federal holidays.
